Daily Carpet Care
In the middle of a busy week, it can be hard to remember to care for your attractive carpet. However, the more preventative measure that you can take, the easier it is to keep your carpet looking fresh and fabulous! Use mats by all entrances and encourage guests to scrape footwear before coming inside. During rainy or snowy weather, have all footwear removed by the door to prevent dirt, mud, moisture, ice, and slush from reaching the carpet surface. Make sure to review your carpet manufacturer's warranty before investing in a robot vacuum cleaner.
Life with Pets on Carpet
If you have pets in the home, you can still keep your carpet looking great! Take these carpet care steps to make life with pets even easier:
- Make sure to keep all nails and claws trimmed to prevent carpet snags.
- Brush pets to reduce the amount of hair and dander.
- Complete house-training before your pets can spend time on carpet.
- Nylon and Triexta are great carpet fibers for a home with pets since these fibers provide resiliency, stain resistance, durability, and ease of maintenance.
- A textured, patterned, blended, or heathered carpet will look fresher between cleanings.
Removing dirt and debris effectively is one of the biggest keys to preserving the appearance of your carpet! Vacuum with an appropriate model that matches your carpet construction as frequently as possible to remove dirt, debris, dust, and pet dander.
Treat spills as promptly as possible to prevent permanent stains from forming. Gently remove all solid material with a spoon, and begin blotting the spill with a dry, clean white cloth and warm water. Start from the perimeter of the spill and work towards the center.
We recommend keeping a gentle carpet-specific cleaner on hand to spot treat your carpet when needed. As a part of your long-term carpet care routine, we also recommend 1-2 professional carpet cleanings annually to remove residual spills and odors, as well as restore appearance.
